What We Stand For
Are you concerned about the housing crisis in our Valley and our county? Here in the Valley we stand to gain a new affordable housing neighborhood, provided that environmental concerns about the site next to Felton Faire can be addressed by South County Housing, a non-profit housing developer (www.scounty.com)
Some people would like to stop this project before even considering the results of the environmental studies. Affordable Housing Allies-San Lorenzo Valley thinks that’s wrong. Santa Cruz Sentinel, April 10, 2006 While opponents to an affordable housing project in Felton say it doesn't fit the valley's character, an advocate group has emerged that supports the idea as much-needed assistance for those priced out of one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation.

I was one of 50 Felton-area residents at the affordable housing meeting at the Felton firehouse March 1. However, unlike the claim of the article on the front page of the March 6 Valley Press, I was there to support the proposal of South County Housing, a nonprofit public benefit corporation, to build affordable housing on 15 acres at Felton Faire.

As Gilroy developer South County Housing continues to hold community meetings on a possible affordable housing development here, opponents say high-density housing is simply not suited to the valley.
